Lianne Barlon is a wife, a daughter, a grandmother and mother to three children and two angels. Lianne specialises in grief and bereavement support. Lianne has operated as a funeral director for the past 11 years, trading under the name Just Funerals (named in memory of her son Justin). She has been a grief and bereavement counsellor for over 25 years, running Griefshare groups at New Life Church for the last 11 years.
Lianne is now training to become a bereavement doula with a passion to serve parents who experience infant or pregnancy loss. Lianne is a co-owner of Sonja Smith Elite Funeral Group in Fourways and provides personalised and compassionate funeral services to families facing a bereavement. Lianne also offers ongoing grief support via Soul Café, a peaceful and comforting environment in the beautiful Broadacres Garden Centre.
Lianne is an accomplished speaker and regularly speaks at ladies’ teas, discussing how to have courageous conversations with those we love, sharing true stories from the heart and offering her own testimony as to how she came to be a counsellor and funeral undertaker.
Michael Blain qualified in 1992 as a Chartered Accountant and spent over 25 years in senior management roles in the life and short term insurance industries. Michael has a passion to make a difference to society with a particular focus on changing attitudes towards death and grief. Michael believes that every life is a unique story to be told and to be remembered and celebrated. Michael believes that death robs too many families of their rich history and heritage and he seeks to encourage families to share and record their wishes, their stories and their dreams.
Michael is a co-owner of Sonja Smith Elite Funeral Group in Fourways. Michael is a keen cyclist and photographer in his spare time. He is also a father to two young adult sons.
