The Cost of the Funeral
We will keep you informed about the costs of the funeral from the outset.
We will explain to you what the options are and how much they cost so that you are fully informed about the choices you make.
When you have made your choices, we will provide you with a written Tax Invoice of the funeral costs.
The costs of a funeral are made up of the following:
- Professional services including appropriate advice and support, liaison with third parties and personnel required to arrange the funeral. Bringing the deceased into our care, taking care of the deceased at our facilities, presentation of the deceased and conducting the funeral service, including provision of a hearse, lowering device, etc.
- The cost of the coffin or casket.
- Additional charges such as transport and after hours fees.
- Payments made on your behalf, known as disbursements, which include fees for the doctor, minister and cremation, etc. We kindly ask for payment to be effected 24 hours prior to commencing of the funeral service.
You will receive your Tax Invoice by hand/fax or e-mail. The invoice can be paid in person at our funeral home or at any bank or via Internet. You can pay with cash, by cheque or with a debit or credit card. (Please note: We do not accept American Express Cards for payment)
Please be advised that we do not submit Tax Invoices to a solicitor for payment by the estate of the deceased. Please note that you remain responsible for the account being paid in accordance with our terms and conditions.
Meeting the costs of a funeral
It is advisable to make provision for funeral costs by means of a funeral policy.
We stock a supply of claim forms for funeral policies issued by a number of other institutions. However, there are exceptions. Please contact our funeral home to enquire.
If you think you may have trouble meeting funeral costs, please discuss this with us at the time of arrangement. We will assist you in structuring a funeral service according to your needs. You may also be able to apply for an Unemployment Insurance Fund Payment (Death Claim) and we have information on who may be eligible and how to make a claim. Please remember that you are personally liable for settlement of the full Invoice amount 24 hours prior to commencement of the funeral service.
